Growing SLC Manufacturing Company is looking for a Full-time Maintenance Mechanic. Successful candidate will be responsible for maintenance and installation of production equipment, installation of automated machinery, such as robots and programmable logic controllers and equipment, as well as repairing of physical structures, pipe and electrical systems. Candidate will be expected to inventory spare parts, torch or weld equipment, have a good understanding of plumbing and pipe work as well as hydraulic and pneumatic equipment and related.

REQUIRED
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• 4+ years related experience and/or technical training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English
• Must be reliable and dependable.
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and move heavy equipment.

Lab Technician I (Swing Shift Only) Sorenson Genomics, L.L.C.  

World-class genomics laboratory and global industry leader in DNA analysis seeks to fill multiple swing shift positions for Full Time LABORATORY TECHNICIAN I. Successful candidates will process test specimens through DNA quantitation, normalization, multiplex PCR for short tandem repeat analysis, mtDNA sequencing & data collection.

Shift hours are: 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm

Required:
• High School Diploma with 4+ years experience in Molecular Biology Laboratory
• AS Degree in Biotechnology or MLT Certification or BS Degree in related field.
• Familiar with molecular biology lab testing, analysis and reporting

Preferred:
• BS in Biochemistry or Molecular Biology or Biology or related field
• 2+ years experience in a lab with this emphasis
• Familiarity with Molecular Biology Laboratory testing, analysis and reporting.
• Computer and Microsoft applications proficiency

Forensic DNA Analyst I Sorenson Genomics, L.L.C.  
Sorenson Forensics is a leading provider of casework and validation services for federal, state and local crime laboratories and Officers of the Court in individual criminal cases. Additionally, we offer comprehensive genetic forensic services for private industry clients. We are currently seeking an experience Forensic DNA Analyst to work in our Salt Lake City laboratory. Candidate must have completed a comprehensive forensic DNA training program to include a range of samples typically encountered in forensic casework. Candidate must be willing to travel up to 50% of the time to a public crime laboratory for validation services assignment, assignments will typically last 2-4 weeks in a row or more. We will fly you home or to any major city in the continental U.S. every weekend.

REQUIRED:
• B.A. or B.S. degree in a biology, chemistry, or forensic science related area. College course work or classes covering the subject areas of: (a) biochemistry, (b) genetics, (c) molecular biology, and (d) college course work or training that covers the subject area of statistics and/or population genetics. • Qualified candidates must meet the FBI’s Quality Assurance Standards for a technical analyst/examiner (Standard 5.3).

Associate Laboratory Director Sorenson Genomics, L.L.C.  
Sorenson Genomics is seeking an Associate Laboratory Director to assist with the technical oversight of the relationship testing component of its operations including but not limited to laboratory processes, data integrity and casework review and reporting.

Duties for this position include but are not limited to the review of relationship testing casework and associated genetic data, consulting with the laboratory regarding data quality concerns and improvements, consulting with clients regarding case results and interpretation, providing expert legal testimony when needed, providing continuing education, training and otherwise acting as a constructive mentor to laboratory staff, working closely with the Case Production team to resolve technical and non-technical issues with casework, assisting the Laboratory Director to help ensure compliance with all accreditation requirements, be available for all relevant audits and be involved with and help manage the development, validation and implementation of new relationship testing processes, reagents, instruments, procedures and products. The successful candidate will be proficient with basic statistical methods and computer-based technologies and will have a firm understanding of the underlying principles of human genetics and molecular biological methods. Finally, candidates must demonstrate working experience with assay design, laboratory implementation and validation.

Minimum Requirements:

¬Ph.D. in a relevant biological science.
Practical experience with the study of human polymorphism including: microsatellite/STRs, mtDNA sequence variation, genetic mapping and linkage, haplotype analysis, population genetics.
Must possess a peer-reviewed publications record.
Ability to work as part of a high-functioning multi-disciplinary team.
Ability to handle several projects simultaneously and multi-task well.
Detail-oriented
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong initiative and demonstrated ability to take ownership of challenging problems.

Preferred:

Experience with GeneMapper or Genescan/Genotyper, Sequencher.
Experience with Applied Biosystems genetic analyzers.
2 years experience in a commercial environment.
Specific experience in the analysis of human relatedness.

Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems.

In addition, duties will include purchasing of laboratory supplies, inventory management and production scheduling. Will be required to negotiate long term contracts and maintain vendor relations as well as oversee the daily receiving process of supplies into the laboratory, maintain supply chain reports, inventory tracking and projection sheets and maintain a high quality level throughout supply chain.

Education/Experience
 Bachelors Degree in a related field such as business, finance, cost accounting or business management.

The Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation (SMGF) is a non-profit organization seeking a Jr. Software Engineer. This position requires a self-starter with strong trouble-shooting and investigative skills to develop computer applications both for internal use and for the www.smgf.org Web site. This software engineer will be responsible for developing application code and for testing and developing applications in both Java and MYSQL for the entire software lifecycle.
